The YRoNS symposium will be the opportunity for high school students from different schools and countries to present orally a research project they have carried out, with chemistry as the central science and spanning out on related fields. The participants will also be introduced to the R&D effort on an industry.

The aims of the symposium are the following:

§         Gaining confidence and sharing experience in participating in scientific conferences
§         Developing the students’ foreign language competence.
§         Strengthening partnership bonds and traditions

The YRoNS 2011 Symposium creates a synergy with the International Year of Chemistry 2011 initiative, sharing key objectives:
§         To increase the understanding of chemistry in meeting world needs
§         To encourage the interest of young people in chemistry
§         To generate enthusiasm for the creative future of chemistry

This symposium will also set an example of accomplishments in chemistry to fellow students, broadening their understanding of the field as well as of the inner works of research.

Participants will enjoy social activities, tour the neighboring areas (Lille, Paris, Bruges) and get a glimpse at local chemistry related businesses to enrich their YRoNS experience.
